Caprylic/capric triglyceride as a natural alternative
Creams and body care products often have two main basic components: water and fat. Caprylic/capric triglyceride provides the fat element – and does so in a high quality and natural form.
Many cosmetics products contain cheap mineral oils or silicones which are mixed in to the formula as functional lipids. While it is true that they usually have a long shelf life, they are also suspected of causing a number of unwanted side effects. If a care product contains artificial substances that are foreign to the body, the skin will only remain moisturised for as long as the cream remains on its surface. In addition to this, there is always a residual risk of intolerances and allergic reactions when artificial ingredients are used.
Caprylic/capric triglyceride on the other hand provides long-lasting moisturisation of the skin. It is plant-based, very well tolerated by most skin types and non-comedogenic – which means that it does not trigger break-outs or acne by blocking the pores.
Vitamins require natural fats
Vitamins are usually fat-soluble. This means that they reach the skin through the lipid component of creams and other care products. This becomes impossible, however, if the lipid element of the product consists of artificial substances. Natural caprylic/capric triglyceride is able to reach the skin with lasting effect. As such, it can also act as a carrier for vitamins. Caprylic/capric triglyceride therefore helps to make the other ingredients in care products more effective or indeed effective in the first place.
