Alpha-linolenic acid – one of the most effective skincare ingredients
Alpha-linolenic acid is an essential fatty acid which the body needs, but is not able to produce itself. This omega-3 fatty acid ranks as one of the most important essential fatty acids along with linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acid). These are mainly obtained from our diet. Good sources include linseed oil, which is derived from flax seeds, and oily fish (e.g. herring or salmon). Apart from linseed oil, alpha-linolenic acid can also be found in chia oil, hemp oil, rapeseed oil, walnut oil, sea buckthorn oil and unrefined soybean oil.
